Here’s another Filipino recipe that you probably haven’t tried or heard about. This is a recipe that uses tahong or mussel as the main ingredient.
If you love seafood, this is a great recipe that you can try at home. The ingredients are pretty basic and easy to find at your kitchen or local market and/or stores.

This recipe makes up to 6 servings.
Breaded Tahong Estofado Ingredients:
* 1-1/2 kg tahong (boiled (reserve 1/2 cup broth) and shells removed)
* 2 pc eggs (lightly beaten)
* 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
* 1 clove garlic (crushed)
* 1 grams (large) onion (chopped)
* 1/4 cup margarine
* 1 red and green peppers (cut into strips)
* 1 pouch Del Monte
* Original Style Tomato Sauce 250g
* 1/4 cup Del Monte Original Blend Ketchup
Breaded Tahong Estofado Cooking Procedure:
1). Marinate tahong in 1 tbsp calamansi juice, 1/2 tsp iodized rock salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper for 30 minutes.
2). Dip each piece in egg, and roll in bread crumbs. Deep-fry until golden brown. Set aside.
3). Sauté garlic and onions in margarine. Pour in DEL MONTE Tomato Sauce, DEL MONTE Original Blend Ketchup and tahong broth. Season with 1/2 tsp hot sauce, 1/2 tsp iodized fine salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
4). Stir in tahong and bell peppers. Simmer until cooked.
Best served with hot plain rice. Enjoy!

I love Tahong but I've never tried cooking it this way. Looks delicious!
I want to try this one but I am afraid of the tahong due to red tide issues.
