Lumpiang Bangus (Milkfish Springrolls)

Lumpiang bangus is another delicious variant of the famous lumpia recipe. I already covered the lumpiang shanghai and lumpiang sariwa recipe few months ago. As we already know, the typical lumpia consists mainly of pork and chopped vegetables. This one, its all about the fish.

Lumpiang Bangus Ingredients:

* 1 medium bangus (milkfish)
* 1 medium onion
* 2 cloves garlic
* 125g (1 cup) frozen peas
* 1 medium carrot cut into julienne pieces
* 1 stalk diced celery
* 25 lumpia wrappers
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* oil for frying
* 1 box 1.5 oz (42.5g) raisins
* 1 tbsp soya sauce
* 1/4 lemon
* salt and pepper to taste

Lumpiang Bangus Cooking Procedure:

1). Clean bangus (milkfish) by removing the scales, removing gills, internal organs and washing the inside part of it.

2). Slice the backside to expose meat. Pour soy sauce and squeeze the lemon over. Parboil just until pink is gone.

3). Cool. Remove bones. Set aside.

4). In a skillet, saute garlic and onion in olive oil. Add the fish meat, and all ingredients. Add salt and pepper to taste.Cook 5 minutes. Cool.

5). Wrap 1 tbsp of the mixture in lumpia wrapper. Continue until wrappers or filling is used up.

6). Fry in hot oil just until light brown. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or any dip sauce you want. Enjoy.

Fresh Lumpia - Lumpiang Sariwa Filipino Recipe

Lumpiang Sariwa, or fresh spring rolls, consist of minced ubod (heart of palm), flaked chicken, crushed peanuts, and turnips as an extender in a double wrapping of lettuce leaf and a yellowish egg crepe.

Lumpiang Sariwa, or Fresh Lumpia, are folded into a soft, crepe-like wrapper made with eggs. They contain a mixture of stir-fried ingredients, heavy on the veggies, Pork, and turnips, served with sauce and peanuts.

This variety is not fried, unlike the Lumpia Shanghai, and is usually around 2 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length; it is also the most popular among the Filipino variants.

Lumpia Recipe

In Filipino foods and recipe culture, lumpia are eggrolls that are deep-fried like a wrapped stick of meat. Lumpia is a spring roll filled with ground or finely mince of pork, beef or vegetables then served it with sweet and sour sauce. It is also known as lumpia shanghai. Filipinos are well known for its unique and one of a kind Lumpia recipe.

Lumpia are a type of stuffed pastry, like a spring roll. Lumpia or spring roll originated from the Chinese, and other Asian countries have their counterparts, like the popiah of Singapore and Malaysia. In Indonesia, it is also called lumpia.

The term lumpia derives from lunpia in the Hokkien dialect of Chinese. A variant is the Vietnamese lumpia, wrapped in a thinner piece of pastry, in a size close to a spring roll though the wrapping closes the ends off completely, which is typical for a lumpia .

Lumpiang Shanghai With Sweet And Sour Sauce

Lumpiang Shanghai Recipe

 Ingredients:

· 1 lb. ground pork

· 1 cup chopped shrimps

· 1/4 cup finely chopped onions

· 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots

· 2 whole eggs

· 3 tbsp. soy sauce

· 3 dashes of sesame oil

· salt and pepper, to taste

· lumpia wrapper

· vegetable oil, for frying

Cooking Procedures :

1. In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix until well blended.

2. Wrap into thin rolls in lumpia wrapper. Fry in deep hot oil.

3. Drain on paper towels. Transfer to a serving platter. Serve with your favorite catsup or make your own Sweet and Sour Sauce recipe.

Lumpia is a traditional Filipino dish. It is the Filipino version of the egg rolls. It can be served as a side dish or as an appetizer.
